Health Care Decisions Week
2009 Week: October 25-31

Held the last week in October, California's Health Care Decisions Week is a time for people to think about the kind of care they would want if they become seriously ill or incapacitated, talk with their loved ones and doctors about their wishes, and complete an advance directive document.

In 2009 the Compassionate Care Alliance observed the week with free community presentations:

  • October 15, 10:00-11:00 a.m., Sierra Senior Center, 2791 24th Street, Sacramento
  • October 19, 1:30-2:30 p.m., Hart Senior Center, 915 27th Street, Sacramento
  • October 20, 10:30-11:30 a.m., South Natomas Community Center, 2921 Truxel Road, Sacramento
  • October 20, 11:00-11:45 a.m., Hagginwood Community Center, 3271 Marysville Blvd., Sacramento
  • October 26, 10:00-11:00 a.m., Davis Senior Center, 646 A Street, Davis
  • October 28, 10:00-11:00 a.m., Senior Center of Elk Grove, 8830 Sharkey Avenue, Elk Grove
  • October 28, 10:30-11:30 a.m., West Sacramento Senior Center, 664 Cummins Way, West Sacramento
  • October 29, 10:00-11:00 a.m., Woodland Senior Center, 2001 East Street, Woodland
  • October 29, 10:45-11:45 a.m., Maidu Community Center, 1550 Maidu Drive, Roseville
  • October 29, 4:00-5:00 p.m., Sutter Memorial Hospital, 7th Floor Patio Conf Rm, 52nd & F Streets, Sacramento
  • October 30, 10:00 a.m. - noon, Asian Community Center, 7375 Park City Drive, Sacramento

Advance directive classes are being offered this fall - free and open to the public:

  • October 26, 9:00 a.m.-12 noon, Conf. Room D, Marshall Medical Center, 1100 Marshall Way, Placerville. To register, call Susan House, Educational Services, (530) 626-2807.
  • November 16, 1:00-2:00 p.m., Mercy General Hospital, 4001 J St, Sacramento. For info, contact (916) 733-6330.
  • November 18, Kaiser Permanente Point West. Call (916) 614-4040 for time and location and to pre-register.
  • December 17, Kaiser Permanente Roseville. Call (916) 784-4050 for time and location and to pre-register.
