This one-day seminar is designed to help faith leaders support seriously ill and dying individuals and their families. Developed to bridge medical and ethical concepts with the spiritual aspects of end-of-life care, the program includes:
- concepts in setting goals for care near the end of life
- legal issues around life-sustaining treatment and advance directives
- information about pain management, including myths and misconceptions
- how to partner with the medical team to address suffering
- ways to address spiritual needs of patients and families
- how to facilitate communication and be present with the dying

Beginning the Conversation - POLST workshop

This training enhances health professionals' skills in talking with and documenting patients' treatment preferences using POLST (Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment).
Sponsored by the Sacramento Area POLST Coalition, the workshop is useful for any professional caring for chronically or seriously ill patients in acute, long-term care or community settings.
Continuing education credits available.

This two-day nationally recognized course is designed for nurses, social workers and chaplains from community and healthcare settings that help individuals and families with advance care planning. Respecting Choices is sponsored by CHW Strategic Learning Dept. and CHCD. Continuing education credits are available for RNs, MFTs and LCSWs.
